Eric Myers

Eric Myers is the Acting Deputy Director for the Office of Space Commerce at NOAA where he is a senior program advisor and supervises the delivery of business products and services to support budget, finance, acquisition, personnel, logistics, property, and information technology needs. Prior to this assignment, he was the Chief of Staff and Director, Business Management Division for the Office of Human Capital Services at NOAA where he coordinated the delivery of human capital services and products for the agency’s 12,500 federal employees. His portfolio included providing comprehensive program management development,  human resource communications and information technology applications and tools. 

He arrived at NOAA in January 2017 after serving at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) since 2003. 

At DHS, he was a founding member and the second Director of the National Biosurveillance Integration Program where he chaired a group of medical professionals from 17 federal government departments and agencies who produced timely analyses and forecasts of disease outbreaks that could significantly influence the U.S. national economy. Prior to that he served as Business Manager and Chief Administrative Officer for two new large directorates at DHS during its first years of operation. He initially arrived at DHS as senior program management support contractor from the firm of Booz Allen Hamilton where he also supported Department of Defense intelligence programs for the Army, Navy and the standup of the new U.S. Joint Forces Command.

Mr. Myers completed a 27-year military career in 2002 where he served as a Naval and Joint Intelligence Officer, retiring at the rank of CAPTAIN/O-6. His senior ashore assignments included tours of duty on the Joint Staff as the Chief, Defense Intelligence Collection Coordination Center, and as the Director for Collections and Attaches for the U.S. Maritime Intelligence Command. His senior afloat assignment was under the U.S. Pacific Command where he was the Chief for Intelligence for the U.S. SEVENTH FLEET embarked in USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19) and as the Chief for Intelligence for the Standing Joint Task Force-Maritime Component for the Combined Forces Command Korea.

His areas of expertise include creating, transforming and refining organizations and their supporting programs and operations to best support emerging agency missions as well as motivating and guiding teams of highly skilled personnel to build entirely new organizations and transpose existing ones into premium performers.

Mr. Myers is a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute’s Leadership for a Democratic Society program, Senior Executive Service qualified by OPM, and a graduate of the first cohort of the President’s Management Council Interagency Detailee Program where he served a special assignment with the Office of Policy in the Department of Veterans Affairs.  He is an alumnus of Boston College where he earned his BA/Political Science and a proud Eagle rugby player.

A native of Rochester, New York, he is gratefully married to Diane Shields Myers and has two fantastic children, Olivia and Joseph.
