Mr. Alex Gilbert is the Director of Space & Planetary Regulation at Zeno Power, pioneering efforts in regulatory approvals for commercial radioisotope power systems (RPS) across space, maritime, and terrestrial applications. He directs multiple space nuclear regulatory workstreams, including launch safety under National Security Presidential Memorandum-20, National Environmental Policy Act reviews, nuclear materials licensing, export control reform, and indemnification. Prior to Zeno Power, Gilbert was a Project Manager at the Nuclear Innovation Alliance, where he catalyzed advanced nuclear energy development and regulatory reform, authoring a landmark report on developing a U.S. Advanced Nuclear Energy Strategy.
Gilbert is a PhD candidate in Space Resources at the Colorado School of Mines, with his research focusing on space mining governance, space environmental protection, and space nuclear regulation. Additionally, he is a Fellow at the Payne Institute for Public Policy, researching space technology commercialization and energy security, and an Adjunct Faculty member at Johns Hopkins University, co-teaching a graduate course on nuclear power technology, law, and regulation.
