Mr. Jared Hautamaki is a 2007 graduate of the University of Arizona Rogers College of Law and a 2014 graduate of the McGill University Institute for Air and Space Law’s Masters of Laws in International Aviation and Outer Space Law program. He served Congressman John Conyers, Jr., for five years as a Legislative Assistant covering Transportation, Space/Science, and Appropriations issues among others. He is a former EPA Enforcement Attorney, Special Assistant to the Deputy EPA Administrator, Policy Advisor in the Office of International and Tribal Affairs and National Watch Officer for the Office of Emergency Management. While at EPA, Hautamaki served on the Mars 2020 Interagency Nuclear Safety Review Panel, advising on the launch nuclear risk assessment, international outer space law, launch vehicle certification for nuclear payloads, and emergency response. He served as a Policy Advisor for the White House Council on Native American Affairs and currently serves as a Senior Advisor to the Director of the Bureau of Indian Education.

In his spare time, Hautamaki coaches youth hockey, serves as an appellate judge for the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, has served on a number of diversity and social justice committees and in various bar association leadership positions. He also runs an 80-acre tree farm in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula where he has planted over 11,000 trees since 2017.
