NOAA Issues 2025 RFI on Commercial Space Capabilities

On March 14, 2025, NOAA issued a Request for Information (RFI) soliciting information on commercial satellite environmental data and related capabilities available in the FY2026 through FY2032 timeframe that are currently on-orbit or planned to be on-orbit.
Responses to this RFI will be used to inform NOAA’s Commercial Data Program (CDP) of the industry capabilities for Commercial Weather Data Pilot (CWDP) projects, operational data purchases, and other applications in the areas of terrestrial weather and space weather. NOAA may use the results of the RFI in future Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
NOAA is interested in commercially-provided data and related capabilities to augment NOAA’s capabilities in these areas:
• Atmosphere
• Cryosphere
• Land and Surface Hydrology
• Oceans, Freshwater, and Coasts
• Space
NOAA is also interested in GNSS radio occultation capabilities, especially low latency, highly accurate GNSS-RO-derived Ionospheric products such as total electron content (TEC) and scintillation.
Due date for response is April 15, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. ET.
