President Issues New Space Transportation Policy
On November 21, President Obama signed an updated National Space Transportation Policy providing guidance to federal departments and agencies on the development and use of commercial and governmental space transportation systems. The goal of the policy is “assured access to diverse regions of space, from suborbital to Earth’s orbit and deep space, in support of civil and national security missions.”
The Department of Commerce contributed to the development of the policy to ensure it promotes U.S. launch industry health, robustness, innovation, entrepreneurship, and competitiveness.
