Space Commerce “Ideas Inbox”

The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Office of Space Commerce is tasked in law with “seeking the removal of legal, policy, and institutional impediments to space commerce.”
As the U.S. commercial space industry’s advocate within the Executive Branch of the U.S. Federal Government, the Office of Space Commerce (OSC) works closely with the community to understand its needs and convey its perspectives and recommendations inside the government and abroad.
Under President Trump’s direction to “enable competition in the commercial space economy,” the United States Government is focused on unlocking the heavens for American commerce – and is taking action to attract at least $50 billion of additional investment in American space markets by 2028.
To achieve this bold goal, the Office of Space Commerce encourages stakeholders to provide the Office with feedback and observations – helping us identify and address regulatory and policy roadblocks, barriers, or opportunities that impact the growth and global competitiveness of the sector.
The Office of Space Commerce has created this “space commerce ideas inbox” to help facilitate stakeholder engagement. OSC welcomes any input; in particular, feedback and/or ideas regarding:
- U.S. space regulatory roadblocks, barriers, or inefficiencies.
- Maximizing U.S. Government use of commercial space capabilities and services.
- The U.S. Government’s space-related acquisition approaches, practices, and contracting methods.
- Methods to drive private and/or foreign investment into the U.S. commercial space sector.
